Rocky Barra Bounty
The Rocky Barra Bounty is a 5-star fishing event, under Recfish Australia's National Fishing Tournament Accreditation Scheme. This rating recognises the positive social, economic and environmental impacts of this event. The event is also a finalist in the Significant Events & Festivals category at the 2006 Qld Tourism Awards and the winner of a Judge's Award for Tourism Product Marketing at the 2003 Qld Tourism Awards.
The annual Rocky Barra Bounty is staged on the Fitzroy River at Rockhampton.
In 2008 the RBB will be the 23-25th October.
This Tag and Release Barramundi fishing competition is based on the most metres of Barramundi tagged to ensure minimum impact on fish stocks. Nominations are limited to 70 teams with two anglers in each team.
The compulsory competition briefing takes place on Thursday evening, and the main events will be conducted on the Friday and Saturday. The Barra Bounty will conclude with a celebratory dinner and awards presentation event on Saturday evening.
